The football world was informed about the arrival of striker Nicolò Tresoldi when he scored a magnificent hat-trick to motivate his side, Club Brugge, to a big victory over Italian champions Inter Milan.

However, the performance against Inter was only one highlight of a striker who has been one of Europe’s fastest-growing talents while putting in some impressive performances for a while.

Last season, Tresoldi scored 23 goals and assisted seven times in 58 appearances across all competitions.

He has carried this rich vein of form into the current season, where he has scored 12 goals, including three hat-tricks.

Born in Italy, Tresoldi moved to Germany along with his parents at a young age and joined the Hannover 96 youth academy.

Spending almost seven seasons at the club, he caught the eye of the Brugge scouts, who signed him for the Belgian club.

In this Nicolò Tresoldi scout report and player analysis, we take a closer look at Tresoldi's profile, strengths, tactical attributes and the qualities that have made him one of the most exciting young attacking prospects in European football.

Nicolò Tresoldi Physical Profile

Tresoldi measures 186cm tall and possesses an athletic physique that combines the elements of both a mesomorph and an ectomorph.

He has relatively slender legs and a muscular upper body, which is able to generate considerable power through his upper body.

According to data published by the UEFA Champions League, his top speed has been clocked at 33.7 km/h while he covers an impressive 10.7 km distance per game, showing strong physical data for a striker.

Tresoldi is able to generate considerable speed due to his pattern of long strides, especially when he is attacking space.

A speciality in his game is his ability to reach top speed very quickly, making him very effective in the penalty area and difficult for defenders to catch.

Tresoldi uses his upper body strength to effectively hold up the ball when Brugge are in possession.

He positions himself between the ball and the opponent, acting as a shield and preventing defenders from going around him.

Tresoldi also sometimes uses his arm to create separation from his marker to prevent the defender from coming around him.

This technique helps Tresoldi to draw fouls while play is building up.

His height and his reach from his jump are quite good, making him compete for aerial balls and also act as the target when Yann Sommer plays chipped passes from the back.

Nicolò Tresoldi Technique

Tresoldi’s first touch is vital to his game, given a good chunk of his game happens in the final third.

He usually cushions the ball using the inside of his foot, allowing him to move quickly after receiving the ball, therefore not allowing defenders a chance to close him down.

Ambidexterity is also a big feather in his cap.

Tresoldi is comfortable in receiving the ball with either his left or right foot, making him more unpredictable.

His touch with his left foot to receive Carlos Forbs' pass against Cercle Brugge, helped him to create the opportunity to score, as seen in Figure 1.
