Erling Haaland Might Be An Essential Pick This Weekend

Manchester City forward Erling Haaland has been the most in-form striker in the Premier League this season, with a total of 22 goals so far.

It’s no surprise that he is the most transferred-in player this week, with Manchester City having a double gameweek.

City face league leaders Arsenal this weekend, a fixture many expect to be challenging, followed by a much more favourable clash against Burnley.

Taking these two fixtures into account, along with Haaland’s recent Premier League form, the key question is: Is he essential for your team this weekend?

Haaland has failed to register a goal or assist in his last three Premier League matches, despite playing the full 90 minutes in each.

However, before that run, he had five goal contributions in four games.

Most Fantasy Premier League managers still expect him to return to scoring form in City’s double gameweek, which is reflected in his current ownership of 60%.

He also has a strong track record against both opponents this season.

Haaland scored against Arsenal in the reverse fixture, and against Burnley, he delivered a standout performance with two goals and an assist.

Managers who still have their Triple Captain chip available will be seriously tempted to use it on Haaland this weekend.

For that reason alone, he could prove to be an essential pick, provided you can afford him.

Gabriel Magalhães Vs Marc Guéhi

Gabriel and Marc Guéhi are both players who could play a key role for their respective teams in the title race, but which one is the better option for your FPL team heading into the final stretch of the season?

Marc Guéhi has played 2,610 minutes of Premier League football this season, while Gabriel has also spent plenty of time on the pitch for Arsenal, with 2,256 minutes played.

Both defenders have posed a threat in front of goal this season.

Gabriel has scored three goals and provided four assists, while Guéhi has also scored three goals, along with two assists.

Their xG (expected goals) figures are very similar, with Guéhi at 1.88 and Gabriel at 1.96.

Gabriel has taken more shots, with 10 compared to Guéhi’s five.

Interestingly, Guéhi has had far more touches in the opposition box this season, with 53 compared to Gabriel’s 35.

Guéhi has also hit the woodwork twice, while Gabriel has done so once.

When it comes to creating chances, both players have completed three through balls this season.

However, Guéhi has delivered more crosses into the box than Gabriel, with 14 compared to five.

That is to be expected, as Guéhi has Erling Haaland to aim for.

Defensively, the two are very closely matched.

Guéhi has won a total of 157 ground duels this season, while Gabriel has won 151.

In the air, Gabriel has a slight edge, winning 89 aerial duels compared to Guéhi’s 87.

From an FPL perspective, there is a notable price difference between the two.

Guéhi is priced at £5.1m and has accumulated 150 points.

Gabriel, on the other hand, costs £7.2m and has 177 points.

With these two players set to face each other this weekend, and with one of them likely to end the season as a Premier League champion, it will be interesting to see who finishes the campaign with more points.

João Pedro
