Brian Brobbey (5’11”, 181cm) is one of the most distinctive centre-forward profiles in the world right now, thanks to his combination of physicality, hold-up play and respectable, yet not elite, finishing quality.

He’s not the most clinical forward in world football, but he has been finishing his chances at a highly respectable level since joining Sunderland from Ajax just over one year ago.

The Black Cats spent €20m on the Netherlands international, and he’s now valued at more than double that (€50m), per Transfermarkt.

In terms of player profile, Brobbey occupies a fairly specialist niche as a physically dominant reference point.

He can occupy centre-backs and give them problems to think about through his presence alone.

This can, in turn, create space for teammates around the centre-forward, while also providing his team with a focal point around which their attacks can be built.

Tactical Football Analysis produced a Brian Brobbey scout report where his profile was analysed in detail earlier this year.

While producing that piece, we also spent some time looking for similar profiles to the Dutch attacker, and one of the most interesting names that jumped out was that of Angers SCO striker, Prosper Peter (6’2”, 188cm).

The 19-year-old scored five goals in 1266 minutes of Ligue 1 football in 2025/2026, having only made his senior debut in 2024/2025, when he accumulated 25 minutes of top-flight football before his 18th birthday.

So far this term, Peter has enjoyed 220 minutes of action in Ligue 1.

He started Le SCO’s first four games of the season on the bench, before making his first start of the current campaign in gameweek five versus Troyes.

He marked that first start of the season with a goal.

Stéphane Gilli rewarded the young forward with another start this past weekend versus Stade Brestois 29, and although Angers suffered a 5-1 defeat, Peter did double his tally for the season, scoring Angers’ only goal of the game.

This Prosper Peter scout report and player analysis examines the France U20 international’s style of play, detailing his Brian Brobbey-esque profile and why clubs interested in a player of the Sunderland forward’s ilk could find value in the young, €12m-rated Parisian.

Prosper Peter Data Analysis

In this section, we evaluate Prosper Peter through the lens of seven custom-built metrics derived from weighted combinations of Wyscout's raw event data, benchmarking the French striker against all 324 strikers to have played at least 800 minutes in Europe’s top-five leagues over the past calendar year.

Stylistic similarities between the Angers attacker and 24-year-old Brian Brobbey are evident in the data.

Peter’s standout metrics are Aerial Threat and Finishing.

He’s not a dataset leader in any particular metric, but the combination of physicality and solid finishing is clear.

While he records a weak score in our ‘Link Play’ metric, it should be noted that the custom metric is heavily influenced by passing volume and progressive distribution, both of which naturally favour more possession-oriented forwards, which doesn’t fit either Brobbey or Peter.

Thus, both players rank fairly low in that department.

However, when you observe both players, you can see similarities in the way they offer their teams an out ball, occupy opposing centre-backs and help connect play inside the final third.

Figure 2 is a radar chart that displays Brian Brobbey’s performance in the same set of custom metrics, compared with the exact same dataset for the same time period.

The two players’ respective data are shown side-by-side in Figure 3, which helps to compare the two.

Brian Brobbey is still the more comfortable in possession of the two forwards and has been marginally more dominant in the air, while Peter has performed slightly more efficiently in front of goal over the given period.

Overall, though, the two players present extremely similar stylistic profiles.

Prosper Peter Movement & Finishing

The clip below encapsulates the essence of Brian Brobbey as a finisher.

He creates a bit of separation from the defenders to make himself a passing option, follows the through ball in behind, bullies the centre-back and blasts home from close range.
